Annual Racing Calendar and Special Events
Young 88 Class Events

Auckland Cup: Held as part of the BMW Auckland Race week.

South Island Champs: Usually held in Lyttleton around March

Nationals: normally held in the first weekend of April, run by RNZYS.

Single-Handed Series: normally held in April, run by the Association. Non spinnaker harbour courses.

Two-Handed Nationals: normally held at the end of November or the beginning of December,

Owners Championships: normally held in September
Club Events with strong Y88 participation

RNZYS Winter Series: held fortnightly on Saturday afternoons in May and June.

RYC and RAYC short-handed winter series: non-class events but popular with owners.

RNZYS and RYC Wednesday Night Series: normally run from October to March.
Five races from this or the winter series constitute the Y88 Auckland Championships. -
North Sail Sprint Series: run on Thursdays in November, December, February and March.

Bay of Islands Race Week: Late January

Carson Challenge: normally held in March: a non-class multi-sport event popular with owners.

BMW Auckland Race week: First held in March. Incorporates the Young 88 Auckland Cup.
Distance Events

Auckland to Whangarei Route 66: Usually run in Feburary 66nm overnight race

Auckland to Tauranga: Held over Easter Weekend. Cruising on return.

Simrad Series: normally held from July to September, the Class has its own start.

Coastal Classic: organised by the Multi-Hull Association and normally held at Labour Weekend, the Association presents a trophy to the first Young 88 to reach Russell.
