The Y88 Owners Association has launched the inaugural Young 88 women’s division in line with our objective of attracting more women to sailing but also to its vision to be “New Zealand's leading one design keelboat class. One Design, does it all”, indeed a perfect size boat for women!

The Ponsonby Sailing Club has kindly agreed, as part of the Ned Womens’ Spring Series to have a Young 88 division that started last Tuesday 13^th October at 6.15pm (Harbour racing that is)

So far we have four Young 88 sailing with this division, Undercover, Dilemma, Skitzo and Young Magic.

We are now calling for more Young 88 boat owners, skippers and women to take part in this new series

• What’s in it for owners and crew?
  • Getting out there with a fun and experienced female crew, helping to build a pool of talented sailors as crew for your other races
  • Knowing you are giving back to the sport by getting more women on the water to grow and develop sailing
  • Benchmarking your crew against some of NZ’s best female sailing talent
• If you are a male boat owner, you will only be able to take part in the tactics eg no manoeuvres
• If you are a female boat owner, you will be able to skipper and/or fulfil other positions on the boats
• If you are interested in becoming an owner The Association can help with advice on buying an 88 and setting up or joining a syndicate (We can help with a syndicate agreement and budgeting information if this is of interest to you)
