We have just heard the sad news that Kiwi yachting icon and design legend Jim Young passed away earlier today. Condolences from the Young 88 family to Anne and family.

Jim and his designs have had a major impact on the cruising and racing adventures of thousands of sailors and their families. We are proud to continue Jim’s legacy on one of his most successful designs, with more than one hundred and sixty Young 88s sailing, 40 years after it was designed.

The link below to a video interview from several years ago gives great insight into Jim's career. His presence at Young 88 regattas and events, occasionally lengthy speeches and always good humour will be sadly missed.
