Miller puts "Voodoo" on Fleet to take out North Sails Young 88 Owners Champs

Published Tue 07 Dec 2021

Voodoo, War Machine and Vagabond neck and neck off the line

A smaller than normal but perfectly formed fleet made it out for a fantastic day's racing in the twice postponed Owners Champs.

Racing was incredibly close with only one point between the first three boats and everything on the line in the last race.

Leigh Miller used all of his experience to keep Voodoo cool under pressure and prevail for a first on countback, Mike Leyland was second on War Machine and Greg Wilshire on Vagabond third.

Great to see the restricted fleet join us at midday for the last three races with Dennis Loftus winning on handicap on the recently purchased Chromium.

Conditions were perfect with a warm Northeaster blowing 15-20knots anywhere from 355-045. Race Officer and BBYC Commodore Hamish Tait did a top job keeping his volunteers busy shuffling marks to deliver true beats and runs in all races.

Georgia Schofield was out taking photos for LiveSailDie and captured events perfectly including one of the two spectacular wipe-outs of the day (names hidden to protect the innocent:))

Huge vote of thanks like usual to our sponsor North Sails, Organising Authority BBYC and volunteers, plus the 88 Committee event leader Gavin "What Chinese Gybe" Haslip
