88 Update: Events, Omicron & Red Traffic Light Settings

Young 88 Owners Association

Hi all

We hope you are doing OK in these strange times. Today's news re the move back to the red traffic light setting is not what we wanted to hear but also hardly a surprise.

The timing is not great either given that some of our marquee events occur in the next two months.

The Young 88 Association Committee has had quick catch up and agreed that as long as sailing is still permitted under red light settings, events will only be postponed if the Organising Authority/Y88 Association decides its safety, viability and success is going to be materially affected by viral spread and impact on crew/volunteer availability.

Rules for Covid passported venues do hinder social activities with hospitality ie max 100 people based on 1 metre distance, seated and no mingling. Expect plans around the "after matches" to change.

Of course, we will also continue to follow and comply with official regulations and advice.

Stay safe and feel free to contact me or any of the committee with feedback or questions. Event updates to follow as required.

Regards

Mike
