Update: 8Y8s @ Bay Week

Published Tue 16 Jan 2024

Hi Bay Week 88ers

This is not your typical 88 Regatta……  more emphasis on fun and parties less on protests and agro punishable by a keel haul!.

It is also a great chance to promote the Young88 Class as the most fun one design 🙂

The Club 88 Cocktail Party, Regatta Beach Party and great racing will be enhanced this year with a prize for the best dressed boat/crew.

Just emailed out an update to all association members. Most of the content also published to the 88 web site https://www.young88.org.nz/news/update-8y8s-bay-week/

NB the fun stuff.. get your signature cocktail sorted and crew dressed for the week... If you need some 88 shirts go here, as long as you pay on time your shirts will be delivered to you in the Bay https://www.young88.org.nz/shop/2532

Marine pest and pathway rules for Northland

Under Northland rules, your hull should have no more than a light fouling when you:

  • enter Northland or

  • move to another ‘designated place’ in Northland – that is, another harbour or popular offshore anchorage.

‘Light fouling’ means no more than small patches (up to 100mm in diameter) of visible fouling, totalling less than 5% of the hull and niche areas. A slime layer and/or barnacles are ok.
